Tell us how you first became involved with Summit Sports Training Center and what inspired you to be a part of the team?
In the summer of 2010 I worked as an intern and also had the privilege of participating in the College Elite program. The College Elite program was unlike any off-season training program I have been through. The program allowed me to achieve performance gains I never thought possible and got me in the best shape of my life for my final season of college football.
What was your personal Get Fit moment in your life that steered you towards a career in fitness and athletic training?
High school football steered me toward a career in fitness. In high school I learned that sports have evolved to the point where athletes need to workout year round in preparation for their sport. It’s the year round commitment that separates the good athletes from the great athletes.
Why is your training center the best place to take a fitness class in Villanova and what makes it unique?
What makes Summit Sports unique is that the center is designed for training athletes. Summit’s high speed treadmills, Vertimax platforms, Olympic lifting platforms, and 30 yards of outdoor track enable athletes to increase speed, power, strength, agility, and overall athleticism.
As a former trainee yourself, what is the most progressive training technique you have seen at Summit that would have been a benefit to you?
All sports training techniques at Summit will benefit any kind of athlete. As a football player who was primarily a blocker, I really needed to work on my explosiveness. I found that performing lower body power movements on the Vertimax platforms helped me become a more explosiveness athlete.
Why should one strive to be physical fit?
There are plenty of reasons to be physically fit. I believe that fitness promotes major health benefits in the body which helps to reduce stress, depression and anxiety while improving your overall quality of life.
What is the most rewarding aspect of being a personal trainer?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a personal trainer is building great relationships with athletes and helping athletes achieve their goals. It is satisfying to see an athlete’s hard work at Summit translate to a great performance on the field.
What exciting programs will you be involved with this summer?
This summer I will be running the High School Elite Program which starts June 18th and runs until August 18th. The program is on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11 AM to 3:30PM. The program is reserved for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The athletes in the program will receive college level training and will be asked exert themselves harder than they ever have before. Read more about the High School Elite Program here.

ZUMBA® Fitness, created in 2001, has become one of the largest and most successful, world-wide dance fitness program that is essentially a dance fitness party! Because of a “happy accident” as explained on their website, the creator, Alberto “Beto” Perez, stumbled upon this inspiration when forgot his aerobic class music and had to improvise on the spot using his own music (salsa and meringue). Intensity Boot Camp, a rotating daily schedule (Monday-Friday at 6PM) has been designed to bring out your inner athlete. People from ages 17 -100 participate in these heart pounding, sweat dripping, and extreme workouts. Push yourself to the max, find out your physical threshold, all while being in a precise and safe environment. Classes rotate on a cycle (see below) allowing members to participate day in and day out.

Boots to Bootie focuses on your biggest muscle in your body, which we must train the hardest. All power and explosiveness is increased from the lower body. From the glutes to the ham to the calves, this program gets the lower body sculpted and toned.
Athlete Intensity focuses on your inner athlete and is a dynamic class. This full body class will work your entire body to the max. Work on speed, power, agility, reaction and quickness, all in a safe and precise environment.
AB-Sential/Core and Control focuses on the power center of your body. This class combines core with balance/stabilization exercises to leave you feeling strong and confident all week long.
Body Impact focuses on intra- and inter- muscular coordination allowing you to get those upper and lower body muscles to work together to create the ultimate full body workout. Not for the timid. This workout will leave the entire body sculpted bringing you closer to the lean mean body you have always wanted.
Upper Body Burner “burns” your upper body with weighted exercises to cardio; your upper body is worked to the max. Pecks, tri’s, bi’s, traps – we’ve got them all covered.
Marathoner is a heart pumping, sweat dripping, aerobic endurance program that will not only leave you gasping for air but will get you through the finish line in record time.

Summit's dynamic GET FIT AM FITNESS PROGRAM, is an individual fitness program prescribed and supervised by a trainer.
- Attend GET FIT STACKABLE FITNESS, our most popular Monday through Friday morning program! These classes are stacked consecutively to begin every 15 minutes, so you are assured that whetever time you arrive, you get the perfect dynamic combination of weights, cardio, core and balance in your 45 minute session. Class times start each morning at 8:00, 8:15, 8:30, 8:45, 9:00, 9:15, 9:30 and 9:45AM. This group setting provides motivation and encouragement that will help power you through any workout.
- If you prefer to workout solo, our Fitness Trainers will provide you with a personalized program based on a fitness evaluation, medical history, and your GET FIT goals.

GET FIT Executive Fitness Program
EXECUTIVE FITNESS, another popular GET FIT program, is perfect if you are bored of your fitness routine, if the gym confuses you, or you are unwilling to keep paying those outrageous prices for a personal training!

Executive fitness is a one-hour personal training program conducted in small groups for adults. After signing up, based on your evaluation and other personal factors, you will receive a personalized program that is consistent with your goals. You then schedule appointments to begin your small group personal training regime!

Appointments are Monday-Thursday, 4PM – 8PM, Friday 4PM – 7PM and Saturday 10AM, 12PM, and 1PM. There will never be more than a 6-1 client-trainer ratio so that your success is ensured. See how quickly our trainers will help you reach your goals.

Here at Summit Sports Training Center, we have helped several pro basketball athletes increase their vertical jump, improve their anaerobic conditioning and make them physically and mentally ready for a 160 game season.
As high school basketball comes to an end, most of the athletes will be looking to make a local AAU team. The AAU teams, for example, practice twice a week and play games on the weekends. AAU practices focus mostly on basic basketball skills; Summit can help enhance their performance and overall athleticism. We use our state of the art Generation II Treadmills which are used to increase your overall speed and endurance. To increase foot speed we use plyometrics on our Don Chou boards, which are designed to enable muscles to reach maximum force in a short period of time. The power training is done on our Vertimax training boards; they help to increase overall power and Explosive movements. This training will guarantee results in increased vertical jumps, reduced injuries and gains in strength, conditioning and recovery.
We've trained the Clippers, Chester High School Boys Basketball team, who won the 2011 State Championship and are currently playing for another state title this year. We have worked with several athletes from the two-time State Champs Archbishop's Carroll Girl's basketball team who are also playing for yet another state title again this year.

One of our clients was a sedentary 30-year old male who started the Executive Fitness program on June 29, 2011. With an average attendance of 2-3 visits per week, he started with a conservative workout plan that was gradually increased in intensity. His regimen included a light warmup, core series, strength training supersets, bike intervals and stretching. On his post-test August 12, six weeks later, he registered a weight loss of 14.5 pounds, a body fat percentage drop of 7.3%, and his predicted VO2 max - based on a Bruce protocol treadmill test - went from 39.99 to 45.87!
